Bailey & Andrew’s Summer Wedding at Lakeside Lodge | Bankston, Alabama
Bailey and Andrew’s summer wedding at Lakeside Lodge in Bankston, Alabama, was romantic, emotional, and completely connected to the water surrounding the venue. From the quiet anticipation of getting ready to their ceremony, dock portraits, and celebration inside the lodge, the day offered the perfect blend of candid and intentional.
Bailey had a clear vision for the way she wanted the wedding to be remembered. Veil photographs, portraits around the dock, meaningful family images, carefully photographed details, and documentary coverage were all important to her.
Lakeside Lodge sits beside the water in Bankston, Alabama. Its modern white exterior, large windows, covered gathering spaces, wooded surroundings, and long dock give couples several distinct settings without ever leaving the property.
For Bailey and Andrew’s wedding, the lake became more than a backdrop. It created a sense of summer throughout the photographs, from wide views of the venue and water to intimate portraits beneath Bailey’s veil and quiet moments at the end of the dock. The reflections on the lake and the deep green trees gave their gallery a romantic, unmistakably Alabama atmosphere.
Soft Pink Details and a Joyful Morning
Photography began with the venue and the details Bailey had chosen for the day. Her invitation suite, rings, shoes, perfume, jewelry, bouquet, and dress all came together in a palette of soft pink, white, and green. The floral-filled details felt light and summery, while her Betsey Johnson shoes added a playful finishing touch.
As the morning continued, Bailey got ready with her bridesmaids. Their matching getting-ready photographs were full of energy, and the softer moments that followed—the final adjustments, the dress, and the anticipation before the first looks—gave the beginning of the gallery a natural progression from celebration to emotion.
Three Meaningful First Looks
One of the most emotional parts of Bailey’s day was the sequence of first looks. She first shared the finished bridal look with her bridesmaids, then had separate moments with her mom and dad before seeing Andrew.
Each first look carried a different kind of emotion. The bridesmaids’ reaction held all the excitement of the morning. The moments with her parents felt more intimate and reflective. Then Bailey and Andrew’s first look allowed the two of them to pause together before the ceremony began.
Immediately afterward, we created a mixture of candid and lightly guided portraits. The goal was never to turn the moment into a photo session that felt separate from the day. Instead, the portraits grew naturally from their first look, giving Bailey and Andrew time together while still creating the polished, romantic images they wanted.
Wedding-Party and Family Photographs by the Water
Before the ceremony, we photographed Bailey’s bridal portraits, the bridesmaids and groomsmen, the full wedding party, and the family groupings that mattered most to the couple. The dock and surrounding landscape kept the lakeside setting visible, while the soft pink bridesmaid dresses and florals tied the full gallery together.
Making intentional room for family photographs was an important part of the timeline. These images may feel formal in the moment, but they often become some of the most meaningful photographs a couple carries forward from the wedding day.
A Six O’Clock Summer Ceremony
Bailey and Andrew’s ceremony began at 6:00 p.m. with approximately 180–200 guests gathered to celebrate them. Framed by the open-air setting at Lakeside Lodge, the ceremony felt connected to both the venue and the summer landscape around it.
The documentary approach was especially important here. Rather than interrupting what was happening, the focus was on the moments as they unfolded: the walk down the aisle, the couple together at the altar, reactions from the people they love, and the small expressions that can disappear in an instant.
Veil Photographs and Romantic Dock Portraits
After the ceremony, the lake became the center of the story. Bailey had specifically hoped for veil photographs and portraits around the dock, and the evening gave us space to create both.
Some images feel expansive, with Bailey and Andrew standing at the end of the dock and the lake stretching behind them. Others are close and quiet: their faces beneath the veil, Bailey’s bouquet filling the foreground, or the two of them walking hand in hand by the water. Together, the photographs balance movement, intimacy, and a strong sense of place.
The dock portraits are also what make this gallery feel so specific to Lakeside Lodge. They could not have been created in quite the same way anywhere else. The wooden walkway, still water, distant tree line, and soft summer sky all became part of Bailey and Andrew’s visual story.
Celebrating Inside Lakeside Lodge
The reception began around 6:30 p.m. and brought everyone inside the lodge for dinner, dancing, and celebration. Bailey and Andrew shared their first dance, followed by the father-daughter and mother-son dances. The cake cutting and reception moments rounded out the evening with a mixture of tradition and candid energy.
The large windows and modern interior kept the natural setting present even indoors. From the couple seated together to the movement on the dance floor, the reception photographs continued the same approach used throughout the day: documenting what happened while paying attention to the people, details, and reactions that made it personal.
Documentary Moments and Timeless Portraits
Bailey and Andrew’s wedding is a beautiful example of why couples do not have to choose between documentary photography and polished portraiture. A wedding gallery can hold both.
The candid images preserve the pace and emotion of the day: getting ready with friends, reactions during first looks, ceremony moments, and the energy of the reception. The guided portraits create space to slow down and make something intentional: a full-length veil photograph, a quiet close-up, or a wide view of the couple on the dock.
Together, those approaches tell a fuller story—one that remembers not only what the wedding looked like, but how it felt to be there.
